After the season kick-off in Sepang, the Absolute Racing is heading to Ningbo for the second event of 2018 F3 Asian Championship Certified by FIA.
In the Malaysian opening round, Malaysia’s Akash Nandy and USA’s Jaden Conwright showed potential and they are both highly motivated to extract the maximum performance of the new Tatuus Formula 3 cars, knowing that the Ningbo International Speedpark features different characteristics.
Completed only last year, Ningbo’s new circuit is a relatively unknown quantity. The 4.015-kilometre track runs in an anti-clockwise direction and is located 250km south of Shanghai in China’s Zhejiang province.
The team is going into the weekend with optimism, after completing a successful two-day test, and expect to be competitive from the start. To better prepare the race weekend both drivers stayed in China over the short break.
#29 Akash Nandy:“I am definitely looking forward to getting back on track with the team and on this track. I’m quite excited to see what the weekend has for us in Ningbo as it seems to be a very demanding racetrack for both driver and car. So let’s see.”
#80 Jaden Conwright:“I can’t wait to get back out there with Absolute Racing. After our strong showing during the first round at Sepang I’m looking forward to keeping this momentum going into the second round. Ningbo is a very tight, technical, and physical track. The style of Ningbo isn’t like any other circuit we head to on the calendar, so it’ll be a very interesting race weekend.”
Ingo Matter (Team Director): “We are heading into Ningbo with high expectations and a positive outlook. This is not an easy circuit to master, but we have been working hard over the last two weeks. With 22 corners around the lap, it will be busy work for the drivers to maintain concentration and put together a perfect lap, particularly in qualifying. Having a trouble-free run from the start will be essential for a successful race weekend. We are looking forward to the challenge that awaits us this weekend.”
