Bentley is no stranger to the world’s racing stars driving its race cars, but this season a film star will enter the ranks as Hard Memory actor Han Geng joins Bentley Team Absolute to make his racing debut.
Han Geng, who travelled to the UK earlier this year so he could prepare with Bentley Motorsport, will pilot the #9 Hard Memory Continental GT3 alongside Swiss-born Shanghai resident Alexandre Imperatori in the extremely popular China GT Championship
We’re all excited to welcome Han Geng to the team,” commented Bentley’s Director of Motorsport Brian Gush. “He’s taken on a huge challenge but has shown a great aptitude for learning and adapted well to the Continental GT3.
The full 2017 Bentley Team Absolute driver line-up, including the star, was unveiled today at the Beijing Film Show, where a Hard Memory-liveried Continental GT3 was also on show.
Racing in Asia is key for the success of Bentley and China GT is proving to be very popular with fans and the region’s leading racing teams. We’re looking forward to seeing how all three of Bentley Team Absolute’s entries perform this season while sending congratulations and good luck to Han Geng as he takes on his first racing season.
Racing in the #5 Continental GT3, rising Korean super-star Andrew Kim will be joined by China’s Weiron Tan, and Bentley Team Absolute’s resident racer Adderly Fong (HK) will partner Thailand’s Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak in car #88.
The Bentley Continental GT3 race car is based on Bentley’s Continental GT road-going sports car and has a V8 twin turbocharged 4-litre engine. Launched in 2013, there are now Continental GT3s racing all around the world with huge success including two championship titles in the GT Asia Series, which has now partnered with China GT.
China GT is the world’s fastest growing GT racing series and comprises six rounds at China’s top tracks, including the Shanghai International Circuit. The season starts with round one at Golden Port on 12–13 May.
