Absolute Racing will enter a Porsche 911 GT3 R EVO in the ever-growing China GT Championship this weekend at the Ningbo International Speedpark for the series' second round. The peach blossom-inspired liveried car will be driven by local drivers Liu Hangcheng and Min Heng.
Regarded as one of the strongest national GT series in the Asian region, and following a successful season opener at Shanghai International Circuit - which attracted a record crowd for a GT race weekend - the championship continues its season at the FIA Grade 2 Ningbo circuit, a highly technical 4.015 km layout featuring 22 corners, where a grid of 40 cars, 25 of which are GT3 machinery, is expected.
Liu Hangcheng is a familiar name within the Absolute Racing family. He began his racing journey with the team in the 2020 Porsche Sprint Challenge, securing podium finishes in the GT4 category. Over recent seasons he has established himself as a strong and consistent gentleman driver in China, competing across multiple major championships including China GT, the China Endurance Championship and GT World Challenge Asia, collecting a number of podiums and trophies along the way.
His team-mate, Min Heng, is another well-established competitor in China GT racing, bringing valuable national and international GT3 experience to the AM class entry.
The team's entry will feature a special peach blossom-inspired livery, another collaboration project with Almost Real, paying tribute to Ningbo's cultural identity. Peach blossoms are a regional speciality widely associated with springtime in Ningbo. Local traditions include the Peach Blossom Festival, while the Peach Blossom Dragon is a renowned example of the region's traditional folk arts and crafts. Taohua Island, located off the Ningbo coast, is also celebrated for its natural beauty. As a result, Ningbo is often referred to as "the water town of Jiangnan, with ten miles of peach blossoms”.
Liu Hangcheng said: "I am really looking forward to returning to Absolute Racing and to the China GT Championship. At Ningbo, our focus will be on delivering consistent performance and securing points in both races.”
His team-mate Min Heng added: "It will be my first event with the team, but those who know me know I never give up. I will push hard, race to the limit, and aim to bring the car home strong.”
Commenting on the new line-up and the weekend ahead, Erin Chen, Absolute Racing Team Leader, said: "We are really pleased to be joining the China GT Championship with a Porsche and two well-known Chinese drivers. Liu Hangcheng and Min Heng bring a wealth of experience to the team, and we will be aiming for podiums and victories in the highly competitive AM class. This car livery represents another collaborative project with Almost Real, which will partner us for the full season. Centred around the peach blossom as the core design element, it symbolises the close partnership between our two companies and further reinforces the strength of our collaboration."
Liu Xueshen, CEO of Sum’s Model, said: “We hope more motorsport fans will see the model we’ve created together, and we also hope everyone will give plenty of support to the results of this collaboration. At the same time, we hope this bit of ‘good luck in love’ will help the racing car put in a strong performance on the track and make a successful push for the podium.”
