Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Champion Dylan Pereira will join Absolute Racing for the highly anticipated beachside Bangsaen Grand Prix weekend in Thailand this week.
As the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, now rebranded Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia, enters the second half of its 2026 campaign at the demanding Bangsaen Street Circuit, Pereira will team up with Marvin Klein to pilot the #89 Porsche 911 Cup car during the 20th anniversary of Thailand’s most iconic street race.
New to the squad, Pereira arrives with an impressive pedigree as a proven race winner across Porsche Carrera Cup competition worldwide, having built his reputation through strong performances in both Europe and Asia. The Portuguese-Luxembourgish driver secured multiple victories in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, where he finished vice-champion in 2020, before going on to claim the 2022 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup title and dominate the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season with consistent front-running pace and multiple race wins en route to the championship.
Fabien Fior, Team Manager of Absolute Racing, welcomed Pereira to the team, stating: “We are proud to welcome Dylan to the team as we share the same winning ambitions. He joins us with vast experience and success in Porsche Carrera Cup around the world, and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, including two wins here in Bangsaen last year.”
Dylan Pereira added: "Bangsaen is a truly unique event. You have the fans coming in, creating an incredible atmosphere, being so close to the beach, and then the tuning shows bringing even more energy when the sun goes down. It’s a special place for motorsport. My goal this weekend is to repeat what I achieved last year — fight for both race wins. It’s also my first event with Absolute Racing, so I’m really looking forward to working with the whole team, building a strong partnership and giving everything I can to bring home some trophies."
Marvin Klein, who secured second and third place finishes at the previous event in Fuji, will return to the #88 Porsche 911 Cup car as he makes his debut on the streets of Bangsaen.
Absolute Racing returns to Porsche Carrera Cup Asia competition this season, with a strong history in the Asia’s premier one-make series. The team is no stranger to success, having previously secured four overall drivers’ titles, more than 40 race victories, as well as two Class B crowns and Dealer Trophy honours. Since its return, Absolute Racing has taken three podium finishes in five races, including a commanding victory in Zhuhai with Alexander Tauscher.
With thunderstorms forecast and temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, drivers will face a stern test around the unforgiving street circuit. A carnival-like atmosphere is expected, with free admission for fans to enjoy the on-track action.
Track activity begins with Free Practice and an official practice session, before Qualifying gets underway at 08:40 (UTC+7) the following day. Race one starts at 13:20 on Saturday, followed by the second 30-minute race on Sunday at 13:35.
