In a dramatic second race for the Asian GT series opener at Sepang F1 Circuit this weekend, the top three cars in the field engaged catastrophically to eliminate the two Ferraris of Clearwater Racing and the Lamborghini Murcielago of Dilango Racing and cause the majority of the race to be run under the supervision of the safety car. Leading off from the grid, both the Lamborghini and Ferrari of Mok Weng Sun charged aggressively toward the first turn. Moving together closely, the cars closed on the corner as Dilantha appeared to lock up the back end of his car and impact Mok’s Ferrari. Hitting the pit wall and bouncing back across the track, both cars collected the other Clearwater Ferrari and called out yellow flags and safety car.

With all but the final lap under safety car, the remaining cars headed by Philip Ma in the Audi R8 LMS proceeded around the track. Coming in on the final lap, the cars were released to race with the Audi in front. Chased hard by the two Ginettas, Ma was able to stave off their attacks and establish a wide gap to take the checkered flag.

A subsequent decision by the race stewards placed a 20 second penalty on Philip for overtaking during safety car conditions giving him a final place in official results of fifth in the race.
