In the inaugural race of the MSS season, the Clearwater racing Ferrari of Mok Weng Song took the checkered flag after a hard fought race. The new Audi R8 LMS managed by Absolute Racing took to the grid as part of the Asian GT series. The first two races of the Asian GT for 2012 were merged with the races for MSS over the Formula 1 weekend at Sepang.

Starting from third on the grid, Philip Ma in the Audi R8 LMS attacked the Clearwater Ferraris in turn on, pushing the car to gain track position. Pipped at the post by Mok, the Audi fought a hard battle with Frank Yu in the Ginetta of Craft Eurasia Racing. With some spectacular dodging and weaving through the early laps of the race, Philip Ma kept tight to Frank Yu’s exhaust. Pulling ahead of the Ginetta only seconds before the checkered flag, Philip ended the race in fourth place overall, half a second ahead of Frank Yu but claiming victory in the first Asian GT race of the season

With the car only just out of the packing crate and still smelling of the factory, this car will achieve great things during the remainder of the Malaysian Super Sports season.
