Tanart Sathienthirakul will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia for a second consecutive full season having completed a deal with Absolute Racing.

Last season the 25-year-old driver Thailand debuted in the series with Absolute Racing, finishing seventh in the Overall Class standings, and both parties are now happy to announce the continuation of his partnership with the team.

For 2018 the championship will be more challenging than ever before with the introduction of a new and even more powerful 911 GT3 Cup. Nevertheless, with a strong showing in the Sepang pre-season testing, Tanart and Absolute Racing have made their intentions clear for the approaching season.

About the season ahead, Tanart commented “I am pleased to return to the Carrera Cup Asia, and also to be back with Absolute Racing for another year. I am much more familiar with GT cars now, so let’s see where I’m at in the first race. It’s a tough series but with the people around me, I’m confident we will get strong results and have a shot at winning the championship.”

Fabien Fior, Absolute Racing Team Director said: “The Absolute Racing Porsche Carrera Cup Asia team is very excited to have Tanart return for 2018. He came to us last season and within a short time started working well with the team. Last year’s results do not show his true potential and natural skills. With his commitment to improve and our track record of taking drivers to the next level, we’re confident that he will be doing great things in the upcoming season.”

2018 Carrera Cup Asia season starts with a three-day official test at the Shanghai International Circuit on March 23-25. This year’s schedule features the return of popular stops in Shanghai, Fuji, Bangsaen, Sepang, and Singapore, as well as the series’ second visit to Sydney Motorsport Park in Australia.
