Absolute Racing has enforced its commitment to the Blancpain GT Series Asia by confirming it will enter three Audi R8 LMS GT3s for a second season running.
The team who missed out on the pan-continental championship’s title by one point last year will field one car in the Silver Cup and two cars in the Pro-Am class in 2018.
Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup Drivers Mentor Cheng Congfu will return to the Championship, forming with 2015 Formula Masters China Series Champion and 2016 Audi R8 LMS Cup second runner-up Martin Rump a strong Silver line up in the car no. 3.
The #7 Audi R8 LMS GT3 features two-well known faces from Absolute Racing: South Korea’s Andrew Kim and Hong Kong’s Adderly Fong. Together Kim and Fong finished third in 2016 GT Asia Series standings. They did not share a car last season but they were both part of the team’s Bentley squad in the Pirelli World Challenge and in the China GT Championship. In this reunion Fong and Kim will be entered in the Pro-Am class.
The team’s third car will be driven by Anthony Liu and Josh Burdon. Chinese driver Liu is widely regarded as one of the fastest Gentleman Drivers in the region, scoring a win and claiming a pole position in the inaugural season of Blancpain GT Series Asia. China based Australian Josh Burdon will line up alongside Liu. The former Asian Formula Renault Champion impressed in endurance racing last year, finishing as first runner up in the LMP3 China series and in the LMP3 class of the 2017/2018 Asian Le Mans Series.
The successful Chinese based team, which has taken wins in every major series it has entered, is set to keep its mark in Asian most competitive GT championship after completing the Championship inaugural season with three overall race victories and five podium finishes.

We have done the best job we possibly could over the winter and we’ll give it everything we’ve got and more to win the championship.”

The 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia features a 6-round, 12-race calendar with events in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and China.
