Having wrapped up the Teams’ title in GT World Challenge Asia in 2019, Absolute Racing is delighted to confirm that Yuan Bo and Leo Ye Hongli will return to the team for a second consecutive season in the championship with a Porsche 911 GT3 R sponsored by Ivory Bay Capital.

Ivory Bay Capital is a global investment firm with headquarter in New York and offices in Shanghai and Beijing. Using a proprietary research approach combining both top-down and bottom-up analysis, the firm invests in the equities and derivatives markets across the world with a focus on United States and China. With a team of talented professionals, the firm has always been a great steward of capital for its clients and will continue to be for the decades to come.

Yuan Bo and Leo Ye Hongli joined forces from the third event of last season. The Chinese duo finished three times on the podium, notching up an overall victory in the last race of the season at Shanghai and two Silver Cup class wins. In 2020, the team are confident that they can continue the trend as they aim to improve Bo’s sixth position in the GT3 Silver Cup Drivers Standings.

Commenting about the new season, Yuan Bo said, “First of all, thanks for our sponsor lvory Bay Capital support. I’m looking forward to the coming season with Absolute Racing team and my teammate Leo. The first year, everything was new, so we have a big advantage now going into the second season. Myself and Leo are under no illusion on how tough it’s going to be, but more I drive in top level competition the more I learn and improve.”

Looking forward to being back in the car, Leo Ye added, “I’m very happy to have the support of Ivory Bay Capital in the new season. I’m very much looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. It’s like starting again, we have the right car, the right team, the right teammate and we’ll be flat out to make the best of this amazing opportunity. What we had learned in our first year is the foundation laid for this upcoming year.”

Fabien Fior, Team Director of Absolute Racing, said, “It’s shaping up to be another great year for Absolute Racing. We’re thrilled to be putting this package together with Bob, Leo and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific. To be successful in this championship, both drivers have to be able to get the very best from the package and they both have proven that they can do it.”

Alex Gibot, Head of Porsche Motorsport Asia-Pacific, commented,”It’s great to have both Yuan Bo and Leo Ye Hongli back for a second year racing with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, especially after ending the 2019 season on a high with a victory at their home race. We’re maintaining a strong partnership with Yuan who has moved across from Porsche Carrera Cup Asia to GT3 racing, so it’s good to see this long-term association continue. Both drivers had a strong campaign last year and we are confident they can achieve even more in 2020.”

The GT World Challenge Asia series gets underway at Sepang on 28-29 March 2020. The updated six-round schedule also includes the return of Thailand’s Chang International Circuit and the legendary Japanese circuits of Fuji and Suzuka. China’s Shanghai circuit is now hosting separate sprint and endurance events. The championship’s first-ever endurance race – the Shanghai 888 – will be the season showdown and will take place in October.
